Question about DH
I've just been reading some reactions and articles about DH...

People keep saying that Dobby dying was really emotional for them, more so than a lot of the other deaths. I remember being affected, but I don't remember how he died. So, uh, anyone want to save me from having to look it up? Something to do with Gringott's? Obviously, the plot of the book either sucked or just wasn't that interesting for me. I haven't gone back to re-read it yet, and I'm not sure I will.

Best of what I've been reading:

LJ's subtle_science posts a long piece called "Harry Potter and the Deathly Plot-holes" which I love and want to read again and again. It seems fairly focused on Snape (a bonus, in my mind) and how well JKR presented some things like Snape's motivations.

A review in the New York magazine called "Harry Potter and the Ignominious Cop-out". Entertaining and also critical; I liked it a lot.

*eta* Also Sigune's First Thoughts. V. v. good - why it felt so unsatisfying.

In other news, I no longer feel compelled to rip my arms out of their sockets to beat off this fic. I think I have it under control. <3 to all.

	Dobby rescued the Trio, Luna, Dean and Ollivander from the Malfoy house - he got most of them out and went back for Harry, and moved in front of Harry to take the silver knife that Bellatrix had thrown at Harry. The silver knife went into Dobby's chest and he died at Shell Cottage after saving Harry. (Reply to this) (Thread)

	No problem - just read those links and yeah, they pretty much say a lot of the things I felt about DH. JKR = interesting ideas for worldbuilding and plot, but poor execution. (Reply to this) (Parent)
